The writing bug infected me at an early age. I can still remember that first story I wrote, all 78 pages by hand in a notebook. I was so proud of my work. I had created something from nothing. The story was a take on the whole Romeo and Juliet idea. I had two rival gangs facing off against each other over the love of a boy and a girl. In the end the boy died in a clash between the two gangs and the girl leapt from the Putnam Bridge into the Connecticut River.
I didn't do anything with that story, but it was the first story I had ever written, and so it held a special place in my heart. What I have discovered over the years is that writing requires a thick skin. What I thought was good 15-20 years ago, wouldn't cut it today. A Writer must be persistent in his or her pursuit of getting published.
Finally, the art of writing is a reward in and of itself. The writer is God in his or her own story. They create lives and determine the individual outcomes of those lives. The writer writes to entertain even if it is only themselves, they are entertaining. So, don't give up, don't give in, don't lose hope. Just write. Tell your story as best you can and let the cards fall where they may. Good luck, good writing, and good stories. C.L. Thomas
Was browsing the internet looking for new books and authors for my next read. I came across this site and I’m very interested in reading your book. I bet 30 years as a police officer has given you plenty of material, I’ll be looking out for your book!
